Child airlifted after bicycle crash in Whispering Pines

A boy was airlifted in Whispering Pines on Monday afternoon after he collided with a car while riding his bicycle. The crash happened just after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Goldenrod Drive and Milk Pea Road.

Officials on scene confirmed to Sandhills Sentinel that a young child on a bike had run into a car. Due to his injuries, which included some road rash, he was being airlifted.

The boy could be seen as they were transferring him from the ambulance to the helicopter and appeared to be conscious and alert.

A landing zone was established behind the Whispering Pines Fire Department, and the child was transported there via EMS. No further details were released.

Responding units were Whispering Pines Fire Department, Moore County EMS and Whispering Pines Police Department.
