Home saved from electrical fire in Southern Pines

Several departments in Moore County didn’t let the rain slow their response when a home caught fire Monday evening. The fire broke out inside a home in the 600 block of Fairway Drive in Southern Pines, with smoke showing from the single-story residence upon arrival of the first fire unit.

According to officials, the fire started in an electrical panel in one of the bedroom closets, but due to their quick response, firefighters were able to stop the fire from reaching the attic and causing further damage.

Duke Energy was dispatched to the scene to remove power due to the damaged electrical panel, which caused the family to be displaced at least for the night.

The two adults who lived in the home made it out safely and were checked out by EMS but did not require transportation to the hospital. All the animals in the home also made it out safely.

Fairway Drive was closed while crews worked the scene due to a large fire hose being utilized, which had to be laid across the roadway.

Southern Pines Police Department, Moore County EMS and several fire departments responded to the scene.
