Dr. Frank John Munno passed peacefully on January 11, 2020, with his loving wife by his side. Frank was born in Mahoningtown, PA on January 5th, 1936, the eldest of four children, to the late John and Mary Treppiccione Munno.   He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Helen Brock Munno, sons John (Kristen) and Jim (Anita), daughter Angela (John), stepdaughters Pamela (Kevin), Andrea (Brian), sisters Angela Augustine and Viola DeVinney (Tad), his “other son” Marshall Williams (Terri), ten grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.   Frank was predeceased by his late wife of thirty-nine years, Pansy Dennis Munno, and his brother Clement F. Munno.

Frank was an inspiration and teacher to many who knew him during his life.  He wished to share his extensive knowledge gained though his keen intelligence and ceaseless curiosity; and he loved a good debate.   Frank graduated from New Castle High School and was recruited by Waynesburg College where he received his undergraduate degree in Physics.  After serving his time in the US Navy, he earned his PhD in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Florida.  Frank continued to serve his country through participation in the Naval Reserves for twenty-nine years.  After retiring from the University of Maryland with many prestigious accomplishments in the field of nuclear engineering, the love of golf brought Frank to Pinehurst, NC.  There he enjoyed many friends and his Church family.
