Ida Lula Turner Fulcher, 96 of West End, passed on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8PM on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the Boles Funeral Home in Seven Lakes. A funeral service will be held 11AM Monday, May 27, 2019 at the Roseland United Methodist Church in Aberdeen. Burial will be Wednesday, May 29, 2019, 11AM at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, VA.
Mrs. Fulcher was born February 9, 1923 in Bassett, VA to the late Joshua Thomas Turner and Ida Susie Stone Turner. She was a longtime serving member of the Stanleytown United Methodist Church, West End United Methodist Church and the Roseland United Methodist Church serving in the Prayer Shaw Ministry where she created numerous blankets for those that were in need. She was an active volunteer in her community both in Virginia and North Carolina. She retired from BB&T Bank after many years of service and also worked in retail employment in various locations in NC & VA. She was instrumental in founding the West End United Methodist Church Food Bank and also the Seven Lakes Yellow Rockers Square Dance Club.
Mrs. Fulcher was preceded in death by her husband of 64years, Garland Kenneth Fulcher in January of 2007. Also preceding her in death was a grandson Lincoln Tyler Darnell and seven siblings.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Merritt Fulcher and wife Judy of Bassett, VA; Larry Delyn Fulcher of West End, NC; a daughter, Sandra Faye Shuford and husband Randy of Sunset Beach, NC; a sister, Lillie Frances Doyle of Martinsville, VA; five grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Quail Haven Village and FirstHealth Hospice for the loving care given to Mrs. Fulcher.
