Jack Glenn Burks, Sr. 62 of Madison Heights, VA went home to his Lord on December 29, 2018.
“Jackie” as he was called by family and childhood friends growing up in Newport News, VA. was an avid historian and his Civil War research was featured in an exhibit in the Halifax Museum. He loved his family, friends and animals and known as a Knight in blue jeans.
A celebration of his life will be held at Faith Baptist Church, 2180 Carthage Road, West End, NC on Saturday, January 12th at 2 pm. Prior to the service the family will receive friends at the church starting at 1:00pm.
Jack is proceeded in death by his mother Betty Wright, father Ray Burks, brother Donald Burks, sisters Karen Burks and Lisa Marie Burks. He is survived by son Jack Burks, Jr. of Kitty Hawk, NC and sister Vicki Burnette of Yorktown, VA. her husband David Burnette, nephews Sean(spouse Amanda), Wesley(spouse Virginia), David(spouse Ashley), Cole, Garrett, and niece Matilynn along with great nieces Brianna(spouse John), Alexis, Alyssa, Karlee, Karalynn, and great nephews Cody, Mason, Braydon, and Xander.
