Rachel Cook Godfrey, age 79, of Cameron, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her family.

A visitation will be held at Cox Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 7 until to 9 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Life Spring Church in Sanford. Burial will follow in New Life Fellowship Church Cemetery in Olivia.

Rachel was born in Surry County on October 9, 1939 to Claude Cook and Margie Cook Freeman. She spent her working career alongside her husband, Sandy in the home construction business. Rachel had a loving and generous heart.  She was kind and soft-spoken and had a smile that could light up a room.  She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Victor Godfrey and wife Sheila of Cameron, Dwayne Godfrey and wife Denise of South Port, Diane Godfrey Collins and husband Chris of Lincolnton, NC, Tim Godfrey of Cameron, Kimberly Godfrey Solomita and husband Frankie of Cameron; brothers, Harold Cook of Rural Hall, NC.; seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sandy Godfrey; parents, Claude Cook and Margie Cook Freeman; brothers, Dean Cook, Lanney Cook, JB Cook, Clarence “Pete” Cook and Charles Ray Cook; grant-granddaughter, Mackenzie Wimberly.
