Carthage man arrested after drug investigation

A man from Carthage was arrested after the conclusion of a drug investigation with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

A news advisory from Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said 61-year-old Thomas Shields was arrested Friday morning after the sheriff’s department presented a search warrant in the 100 block of Country Living Lane in Carthage.

Deputies confiscated cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycodone, hydrocodone, codeine, clonazepam, $1,054 in cash, and drug paraphernalia.

Shields is being held at the Moore County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond after being arrested on nine charges to include possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule III controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substance, simple possession of schedule IV controlled substance, simple possession of schedule II controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Shields is due in court on May 13 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
