Man airlifted after motorcycle accident Saturday morning

A man was airlifted after a motorcycle accident Saturday morning in Carthage. The accident was on Monroe Street in front of Burger King around 8:30 a.m. 

A Fiat hit the motorcycle causing the rider to lose control and land on its side, according to officials on scene. There was no damage to the Fiat and light damage to the motorcycle.

The man was flown to an area trauma center from the veteran’s memorial by Hardee’s. His condition is currently unknown.

Carthage Fire and Rescue closed this area of Monroe Street for nearly an hour as Carthage Police Department investigated, and the scene was cleaned up. Traffic was rerouted through DSS parking lot. Moore County Sheriff’s Office also responded to assist.
