Man and dog uninjured in collision

A man and his dog were uninjured in a collision Wednesday on U.S. Highway 1.

The accident happened shortly after 6 p.m. just south of the intersection of U.S. Highway 1 Business in Vass when a Hyundai Elantra traveling southbound slammed into the back of a stalled truck pulling a trailer. The collision left the passenger car with heavy front-end damage.

Emergency units shut down one lane of southbound U.S. Highway 1 for a brief period while crews worked the scene.

The driver was the only occupant other than the dog and refused treatment by EMS.

N.C. State Highway Patrol was on the scene investigating the crash and stated the truck that had been hit was found a short distance away at a gas station.

Responding to the scene were Cypress Pointe Fire Department and N.C. State Highway Patrol.
