Betty Ritter Garner, 80, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Autumn Care of Biscoe, surrounded by her family.

Funeral Service will be 4:00 PM Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Reverend Todd Moore and Reverend Kenneth McNeill officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Betty was a native of  Moore County and a graduate of Sandhill Community College, with an AAS Degree in Cosmetology. She owned and operated Betty’s Beauty Shop and was an Inspector for Ithaca Industries.  Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She cared for her home and family; cooking wonderful family meals. Betty loved the Lord and her church serving on many committees and singing  in the choir. She enjoyed music, especially Southern Gospel, quilting, reading, playing solitaire and other computer games. The annual family vacation trip to Topsail Island was a highlight to her year, she loved the family time and fishing on the pier.  She was always ready with a smile and a kind word for everyone. Betty was a daughter of the late Mattie Lee Ritter and was preceded in death by sister: Evon Ritter Thigpen; brothers: Leon Ritter, Edsel Ritter.

Betty is survived by husband of 64 years, Dougie; daughters: Patricia Mabe and husband Charles, Ellen Garner, Helen Maness and husband Ed; grandchildren: Travis Mabe and wife Alison, Tannah Moneymaker and husband Stuart; great grandchildren: Mattie, Tori, Armissa, Judson; many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends and the body will lie in state, from 6 to 8 PM, Saturday, April 27, 2019 at  the home. The family will also receive friends following the service at the church.

The Garner family would like to thank the staff at Autumn Care of Biscoe for their loving care of Betty for 6 years.
