Susan Quarles Kouns, 81, wife of Terry Louis Kouns, was greeted with open arms by her Heavenly Father on Thursday, April 25, 2019.
A Celebration of Susan’s life will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Southern Pines officiated by Rev. Doctor David Helms and Rev. Carolyn Helms.
Susan was born in Huntington, WV, the daughter of Charles Walthall (Pat) Quarles and Martha Crooks Quarles and a graduate of Marshall College.
Susan wore many hats during her life. She was the consummate housewife and CEO of the home, a wonderful mother, an accomplished golfer, and along with Terry a business owner and shoe sales partner. Her favorite role and name for the last 30 years though was Nana.
In addition to Terry her loving husband of 61 years, Susan is survived by daughter, Sarah Dawn Kouns (Carol Brooks) of Ridgeville, SC and son, Todd Louis Kouns of Pittsburg and Shenzhen China, three grandchildren Maria Kristina, Rachel Ann and Nathan Charles Kouns, and three great-grandchildren Kaili Valentina, Kash Louis and Hosea Westin and Luzivemenda Kouns, mother of her grandchildren. Susan is also survived by three nieces and many great nieces and nephew.
The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to Cherelle Spencer and Jasmine Ingram for their loving care of Susan this past year as well as the nurses and staff of First Health Hospice.
