John William Roe, age 80 of Pinehurst passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020 at FirstHealth Hospice House with his family by his side.
John was born on December 17, 1939 in Watford, U.K. to the late Christopher Quivelly Roe and Constance Emily Timberlake Roe. He grew up in the U.K. but his career in aerospace led him to Rockford, Illinois in 1981 where he and his family immigrated and became U.S. citizens. After his career, he then retired to Pinehurst in 2003 where he enjoyed the game of golf with his friends and was a member of the Pinehurst Country Club. John was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed professional football where he formerly played for Watford. He was a supporter of both Arsenal and Watford Football. John loved his family and enjoyed a pint or two.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pauline Roe; his children: Tracey Michele Kroboth and her husband Michael of New York and Paul John Roe of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Sam William Roe and Emme Grace Roe both of Atlanta, GA and two brothers: Robert Roe and Brian Roe both of Watford, U.K.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines. Covid-19 guidelines will be followed and attendees are asked to wear a face covering to the service.
