3-alarm fire in Cameron destroys outbuildings and vehicles

Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue was called at 2:15 p.m. April 27 to a fire in Carolina Lakes in Cameron.

The rural neighborhood has unpaved roads with ruts and wash-outs. The thick, soft sand made responding in time a challenge, but Captain Adam Ferguson and his team extinguished the fires in time with the help of Whispering Pines and Carthage area fire departments.

Moore County EMS and the Moore County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.

Three outbuildings, a car, a truck and a grassy area were burned at the home on Lake Rest Lane, but the residence and a separate outbuilding were not harmed.

An investigation into the cause is ongoing.
