Burning shed catches house on fire in Lakeview

A quick response by several local fire departments saved a home from being a total loss after a shed directly behind it caught on fire.

Multiple emergency units were dispatched to the 900 block of Holly Road in the Lakeview community around 11 p.m. Wednesday for a structure fire.

The first unit on scene advised that there was a shed fully involved, and it was starting to burn the back of the house.

After a quick attack, the fire was knocked down and stopped from spreading throughout the home. The back half of the two-story residence did suffer extensive damage. The shed behind the home was a total loss.

There were no injuries reported with the fire.

Public safety was on scene investigating the cause of the fire. Duke Energy responded to the scene to remove power from the home due to the damage.

Holly Road was shut down for an extended period of time while crews worked the scene, and so that a large diameter hose could be laid across the road to supply water from a hydrant.

Responding to the scene were Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Southern Pines Fire Department, Whispering Pines Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Public Safety and Moore County Sheriff’s Department.

The family has a GoFundMe page.
