Driver arrested after rear-end collision

A driver was arrested Sunday evening after allegedly causing a rear-end collision outside Carthage. The three-vehicle accident happened at the intersection of U.S. 15-501 and N.C. 24-27 just before 5 p.m.

According to officials, a Honda passenger car and a Nissan pickup truck were approaching a stop sign to turn onto U.S. 15-501 when a Saturn passenger car came from behind and slammed into the rear of the Nissan truck, causing it to strike the rear of the Honda. The collision left the Saturn with heavy front-end damage and moderate rear damage to the pickup.
