A two-vehicle accident shut down Midland Road in Southern Pines Thursday evening for an extended period of time. The accident occurred at the intersection of Midland Road and Pee Dee Road just before 7 p.m.

Rockwell Towing arrived on scene after an SUV and a Jeep collided causing extensive front end damage to the jeep while the SUV suffered damage to its passenger side.

The call initially came in as one person pinned in a vehicle. Emergency crews worked to gain access to the victim and were able to remove the victim from the vehicle after a short period of time.

The patient was transported by EMS to Firsthealth Moore Regional in Pinehurst. The victim’s condition is unknown at this time.

Traffic was diverted down Pee Dee Road. Southern Pines Police were on the scene and is investigating the cause of the accident.

Responding to the scene were Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Rockwell Towing.
