The Pinebluff Police Department announced in a press release that the Moore County Traffic Safety Task Force participated in a North Carolina Governors Highway Safety Program’s multiagency high visibility enforcement and saturation event on Jan. 18. The event began at 4 p.m. with a one-hour briefing of all officers and concluded at 8 p.m.
The Pinebluff Police Department hosted this event in the area of U.S. Highway 1, from Windy Hill Road to Addor Road. Officers from the Pinebluff Police, Foxfire Police, Vass Police, Aberdeen Police, Carthage Police, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol attended.
In addition to officers attending the event, the North Carolina Booze It/Loose It- Bat Mobile and representatives from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) were also present. In total, 18 North Carolina law enforcement officers were present on the scene to help enforce the laws of our North Carolina roads.
Officers issued 47 charges by citation, and four Individuals were placed under arrest.
According to the Pinebluff Police Department, the following arrests were made: one firearm was seized as it was illegally concealed inside a vehicle. Two of those individuals were arrested for outstanding warrants for their arrest. One individual was placed under arrest on a charge of fleeing and eluding a traffic stop, where a short motor vehicle pursuit ensued and lasted roughly three miles before the suspect’s tires were deflated by the use of a tire deflation device (Stop Sticks) to ensure the safety of the motoring public. One individual was placed under arrest on a charge of DWI.
The charges issued during the duration of this event are as follows: driving while license revoked, expired registration, no liability insurance, flee to elude arrest by use of a motor vehicle, possessing drug paraphernalia, driving without a driver’s license, displaying a fictitious registration plate, window tint, speeding violations, driving while impaired, concealment of handgun/weapon violations as well as resisting, delaying and or obstructing arrest.
The Pinebluff Police Department’s wrecker rotation service was also utilized, where three vehicles were towed.
“These types of events are a necessity for making our public streets and roadways a safer place for everyone,” said the Pinebluff Police Department.
