Driver of scooter sent to hospital accident

Shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday, an accident occurred between a scooter and a pickup truck. The accident happened just before the intersection of 211 east and Hoffman Road outside of West End. 

The scooter and the truck were both on 211 heading east when the collision happened. The first emergency units to arrive on scene stated the patient was lying in a ditch.

Air care was first called but then later canceled. The driver of the scooter was taken by EMS to Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. His injuries are not life-threatening. 

The scooter had little damage. No injuries reported from the driver of the pickup truck. 

Eastbound on 211 was brought to one lane of traffic for about 30 minutes. No delays in traffic were reported though.

Responding to the scene were West End Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, and State Highway Patrol. 

The exact cause of the accident is being investigated by the NC State Highway Patrol.
